Memorial Tribute For Joyce LaFlamme

Candle Circle of Light for Joyce LaFlamme

Candle Circle of Light for Joyce LaFlamme

McAlister-Smith Funeral Home was gracious enough to allow us to light “virtual” candles and leave notes of loss, love, and appreciation for Joyce. We did not want to lose any of those heartfelt expressions.

In the boxes below I am re-posting all of the comments left in Joyce’s online Memory Book in their entirety…before that website goes away.

We want Joyce to be remembered and also leave a legacy for all the new ones who will come into or join the LaFlamme Family one day; by birth or marriage.

  1. When Joey took me to the high school prom, it was Joyce who pinned on my corsage. Twenty three years later, when I was trying to find Joey again, it was Joyce who “hooked us up”. I’ll miss how she used to faithfully send us all funny emails and anecdotes every week. It is still surreal that she is not coming home to us, but those with faith know she is in a place with no suffering. I will cherish forever all her wisdom, recipes, and kindness…and that super bright smile.

  11. Hi! it is me peeking between the cloud’s. I am looking for the right place to put my foot so we can float and talk. I see your hand, I hear your voice, I am with you. My light is not as bright as yours, but the light is very bright. Sing your song and make your place, for the song will show us the way.

  17. Dearest Laurel and Joey,

I was so shocked and my heart so heavy to learn of your mother’s passing. My heart and prayers are with you both and your entire family.

Having lost my own father suddenly, I have an understanding of what you are going through, especially the “unfairness” of it, the disbelief that one so beloved should be suddenly taken from all who loved and needed her. I believe truly that she is now in a place where all she knows is joy and love, no suffering whatsoever.

I also believe that she can see you all and know all the good things that happen to and for her loved ones. For whatever reason, our Father decided it was time to call her home, and I am sure she heard “well done, good and faithful servant,” and she has gone to receive her reward.

The saying that our deceased loved ones live on in our hearts and memories is very true. My father died the year before my son was born, 24 years ago. Yet my son, my grandsons, and others in our family born after his death all feel as if they know him, because we have shared our memories of him. I also “talk” to my daddy whenever I feel the need to, and I believe he hears me and prays for me.

And lastly, you can feel so blessed as to have had this wonderful lady in your life, even if it wasn’t for as long as you would have wanted it.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do, of if you just need someone to listen or talk to.
I love you both very much,

    Donna K.
